I always knew that in some capacity, I wanted to work in a profession that would allow me to help people. As a young adult, I realized that counseling would be an amazing way for me to work with people as they face difficulties in life. I attended Grand Valley State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology and later the University of Phoenix where I received my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Currently, I work with ages 10 and up. I am passionate about helping people develop self-love and confidence as they manage their mental health. I believe that at some point, everyone faces some challenges. As a clinician, I will work with you to address past or present negative issues and see how they could be affecting you.
I work from a holistic viewpoint and I believe when our mental, spiritual, social and physical health is in balance, that is when we are at our best. As a therapist, I strive to provide a welcoming and safe environment that is nonjudgmental. I look forward to meeting with you and congratulations on choosing therapy and deciding to work on you.
My name is Kat and my goal is to provide a safe space for Black folks and other marginalized persons to feel seen, heard, and to heal. I am committed to helping you embrace vulnerability as you journey to discover your authentic self and shed those false narratives imposed by external influences. Our work together will be an allyship. Throughout the therapeutic process, you will experience victories and successes but there will inevitably be challenges and hard times as well.
I aim to be a stable source of support and positive energy for you every step of the way. My hope is that in our partnership you will undoubtedly know that you are not alone and that healing is absolutely possible.
I am an experienced professional equipped to help clients to manage, cope with, and heal from challenges related to depression, grief/loss, anxiety, stress, trauma, and other life transitions. I most often utilize mindfulness, CBT, and talk therapy to help process thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Life is hard. We live in a world of uncertainties, which collectively have caused us to all feel emotions and fears that are hard to explain. And while we understand that humanity is suffering, it is also vital to address the individuality within that collective unit. Each of us have our own unique struggles. It is my belief that every person deserves to have a safe space to process their own emotions. As a counselor I am called to serve and work within my community to create an environment that allows for all people to feel seen, heard, and validated. I have experience working with adults, teenagers, and young children.
Despite the difficulties that may be present in your life, we can work together to encourage development of sustainable skills and healthy outcomes. My goal as a clinician is not to “fix” anyone or any problem, but rather to encourage insight and awareness on how to be the healthiest version of who a person is created to be.
Art Therapy, what a fantastic way of communication. You don’t have to be an artist; you just need to trust the process. Sometimes words cannot express what we want to say or think; through art, you can.
I have a unique set of skills developed through my work with vulnerable populations, trauma-informed care practices, and the significant social impact on the community.
I am here to help you.
When you take that first step of calling to schedule the appointment, those always feel like the hardest steps. I am here to meet you where you are. Whether that is in the depths of your battle with depression, feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, or learning how to express your feelings and dealing with the triggers that inevitably come with trauma. My job is to walk beside you on the journey to healing, provide you with tools to make you the hero in your own story and support your continued growth. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work From Western Michigan University.
I have spent 5 years working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and children with autism doing case management services and supporting families. My master’s degree has a trauma focus where I was able to work with children that had experienced sexual abuse and severe neglect and help them heal.
Come as you are and be who you are. Your story deserves to be told and I hope you allow me to share in the journey of recovery.

My passion is to work with individuals that may need assistance and guidance in life, for a variety of reasons, to live their best life. To ask for help is to be vulnerable, and that is not easy. It is okay to not be okay! I received my Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Masters of Social Work from Grand Valley State University, with a twenty year break in between degrees. While taking this educational break, I was able to gain 19 years of experience working in the social work field, working with many different individuals, in different settings. I enjoy working closely with individuals to help with learning, developing, and implementing techniques to overcome life’s struggles. I provide counseling services to adolescents and adults. I have worked with individuals with Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illnesses, Anxiety, Depression and Trauma. My passion is working with adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, and lack self-confidence. As a therapist, I strive to work with everyone, accept everyone, and meet everyone where they are at with treatment. Life can be a balancing act; I like to help individuals find their balance in life.
