Trauma Informed Care - Youth Violence - Depression - Anxiety

I always knew that in some capacity, I wanted to work in a profession that would allow me to help people. As a young adult, I realized that counseling would be an amazing way for me to work with people as they face difficulties in life. I attended Grand Valley State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology and later the University of Phoenix where I received my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Currently, I work with ages 10 and up. I am passionate about helping people develop self-love and confidence as they manage their mental health. I believe that at some point, everyone faces some challenges. As a clinician, I will work with you to address past or present negative issues and see how they could be affecting you.
I work from a holistic viewpoint and I believe when our mental, spiritual, social and physical health is in balance, that is when we are at our best. As a therapist, I strive to provide a welcoming and safe environment that is nonjudgmental. I look forward to meeting with you and congratulations on choosing therapy and deciding to work on you.

Co-Occurring Disorders - Personality Disorders - Emotion Regulation

Life is hard. We live in a world of uncertainties, which collectively have caused us to all feel emotions and fears that are hard to explain. And while we understand that humanity is suffering, it is also vital to address the individuality within that collective unit. Each of us have our own unique struggles. It is my belief that every person deserves to have a safe space to process their own emotions. As a counselor I am called to serve and work within my community to create an environment that allows for all people to feel seen, heard, and validated. I have experience working with adults, teenagers, and young children.
Despite the difficulties that may be present in your life, we can work together to encourage development of sustainable skills and healthy outcomes. My goal as a clinician is not to “fix” anyone or any problem, but rather to encourage insight and awareness on how to be the healthiest version of who a person is created to be.

There is nothing easy about navigating the world we live in while trying to heal childhood trauma, effectively communicate with others, find our passions in life, build healthy relationships, AND drink enough water… It’s exhausting!

I am especially passionate about the healing and wellbeing of POC, QTPOC, Women, and young adults. I understand how the intersectionality of our identities impacts our experience of the world, and I strive to provide a safe, warm, and supportive space for those experiences to be discussed.
My overall therapeutic approach is holistic, taking into account all of the different parts of you (mind, body, spirit). With a trauma –informed lens, I utilize Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, and Motivational Interviewing techniques.

There are two things that I have learned about therapy over the years as both a client and a therapist:

1) Therapy takes “work”! This “work” looks different for folx because we are on our unique journeys- this is okay!

2) Healing is not linear. Meaning, you may experience a range of feelings, thoughts, and reactions on your healing journey- this is okay!

Whether you are interested in delving deeper into yourself, exploring past and present experiences, just want to talk, etc., I am here to support you along the way.

My name is Jaedah and I am deeply committed to supporting my community’s mental health well-being. I am passionate about serving Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

If you allow me to be a part of your personal journey, together, we can foster an emotionally safe space that promotes vulnerability and encourages you to bring your authentic self.
